About the Client:

Our client is primarily involved in the Toys product, specialized in electronics and functional toys, they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Manager for support the engineering solution, strategy and the advancement of Mechanical Design and Product Development, lead the Mechanical Design engineering team in RD Asia.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director, R&D Engineering, you will be lead and oversee the Mechanical Design team in successfully executing projects, from the initial design phase to production.

Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, serving as the primary point of contact for resolving product design challenges and providing solutions.
Embrace innovative concepts and proactively engage in research to identify the optimal approach for transforming ideas into manufacturable and functional products. This includes modifying existing designs, enhancing production techniques, and developing test procedures.
Create or improve products based on feedback and requirements received from the Marketing department.
Conduct pre-debugging activities on products prior to the start of tooling.
Consolidate product drawings and cost information.
Support the growth and development of team members through coaching, offering technical guidance, and actively participating in the hiring and performance management processes.
Undertake and successfully execute any additional projects, duties, and assignments as necessary and/or as directed.
Candidate Profile:

For candidates that are interested, it would be great if you have the following qualifications.

At least 10 years of experience in the Mechanical Design sector;
A master's or bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related field;
Possesses advanced proficiency in designing using Solidworks.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of complex mechanisms and is highly skilled in 3D modeling methods.
Exhibits excellent knowledge of plastic materials, motors, and common electro-mechanical integration. Also familiar with softgoods and assembly methods involving plastic parts.
Proactively establishes connections with external inventors to explore new product inventions, materials, and the latest technologies that can contribute to research and development (R&D) product development.
Displays a keen commercial sense specifically in the toy product industry, considering factors such as function, aesthetics, and product presentation.
Exhibits strong leadership abilities, consistently striving for technical excellence.
Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and is capable of effectively leading and coordinating efforts across multiple departments.
Communicates fluently in both English and Mandarin, facilitating effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
Experience working for a multinational corporation is essential;
Able to make frequent trips to the People's Republic of China when needed;
Well-versed in the industry standards for both hard and soft toys in many regions.
